Alberto Ginastera (1916–1983): Harp Concerto op. 25
Robert Schumann (1810–1856): Symphony no. 2, C major, op. 61
Andre de Ridder, conductor
Xavier de Maistre, harp
Schubert’s Second Symphony follows in Beethoven’s footsteps towards Romanticism. The symphony’s lightness and beauty shine even brighter in the light of the dismal conditions in which it was composed. Sivan Magen stars in Ginastera’s Harp Concerto. The concert is conducted by genre-defying André de Ridder who has worked with Saariaho’s compositions previously.
