Franz Schreker (1878–1934): Chamber Symphony
Kaija Saariaho (b. 1952): Harp Concerto "Trans"
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827): Symphony no. 2 D major op. 36

Known for his bold and broad-minded concert programmes, Swiss conductor Baldur Brönnimann showcases a spectrum of styles in his concert. Shreker’s glistening late-romantic Chamber Symphony is complemented by Saariaho’s hazy harp concerto starring renowned harpist Xavier de Maistre. Beethoven’s Second Symphony is the pinnacle of the composer’s early period.

Alternative Concert Programme

If the Finnish coronavirus restrictions regarding events and concerts continue in Fall 2021, The Tampere Philharmonic will play two concerts per night (6 pm and 8 pm) with a modified programme to accommodate reduced audience capacity and safety distance requirements. The alternative concert programme for this concert is:

Toshio Hosokawa (b. 1955): A Song From Far Away
Kaija Saariaho (b. 1952): Harp Concerto “Trans”
Franz Schreker (1878–1934): Chamber Symphony
