This concert features two Suite Imaginaires compiled by violinist Antti Tikkanen – two suites that have not previously existed in this form, collected from the operas by French composers Lully and Rameau. Handel’s
Music for the Royal Fireworks commemorates the ending of the War of the Austrian Succession in 1749. Vivaldi’s violin concerto is known for its elaborate cadences.
Violinist-conductor Antti Tikkanen is an accomplished musician who performs frequently with his chamber quartet Meta4. He was the artistic director of the Finnish Baroque Orchestra from 2014 to 2017.
