Gustav Mahler (1860–1911): Symphony no. 1 D major "Titan"
Internationally renowned Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu takes on Mahler’s First Symphony and Songs of a Wayfarer, the melodies of which Mahler repurposed in the symphony. Mahler’s First, also known as Titan, features beautiful orchestration and an endlessly detailed sonic fabric. Contralto Gerhild Romberger is one of the world’s most sought-after Mahler exponents.
If the Finnish coronavirus restrictions regarding events and concerts continue in Fall 2021, The Tampere Philharmonic will play two concerts per night (6 pm and 8 pm) with a modified programme to accommodate reduced audience capacity and safety distance requirements.
