Taavi Nachtigall

Viola

Taavi Nachtigall studied violin and composition at the Tallinn Conservatory and took private viola lessons with Prof. F. S. Družinin. He earned his master’s degree in viola in 1998 at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EMTA) under Prof. P. Paemurru. His doctoral studies at the Moscow State Conservatory with Prof. A. V. Bobrovski remained unfinished due to other professional commitments.

Before joining the Tampere Philharmonic, he worked with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Turku Philharmonic. He has performed extensively with the Nightfall String Quartet and EMTA String Quartet.

Nachtigall has studied conducting with Paul Mägi, Jorma Panula, and in several masterclasses. He also holds a piano technician’s qualification from Hamburg and is an award‑winning AV‑technology entrepreneur.
