Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra with its 97 musicians, chief conductor Matthew Halls, and guest artists offer grand emotions and colorful music – both classics and new works being heard for the first time in Tampere.

The orchestra performs at Tampere Hall, offering a rich variety of performances, from symphonies to operas, ballets, chamber music and popular concerts.

We now invite applications for the position of

  • Application period is from 10 August to 30 September 2026 at 23:59 (11:59 pm, UTC+3).

    The position is permanent, and work begins on 5 January 2027 or as agreed.
    Applications are to be submitted only through the link that will be published on this website on 10 August.

    The audition is organized in two stages:

    1. Pre-selection round based on videos uploaded in YouTube and a link submitted with the application form by 30 September at 23:59 (11:59 PM, UTC+3).

      The concerto and the orchestral excerpts can be on two separate videos. The results of the pre-selection round will be announced by 9 October.

    2. Audition on Monday, 23 November at 10 am (NB! UTC+2) at Tampere Hall Main Auditorium. Invitations to the audition and a link to the orchestral material will be sent to approved applicants after the pre-selection round.

Please note the following

  • Our auditions are open to all nationalities.
  • Please do not send us a tape unless we ask for one. The candidates are invited personally to the audition by e-mail after the application time.
  • Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra will not provide any compensation for travel or accommodation expenses.
  • Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra will provide a pianist for the auditions.
  • Our orchestra tunes to a1 = 442 Hz.

    Concertmaster, 2 posts
    Application deadline was 26 September 2022. Based on the audition, Johannes Põlda was selected for the position. The other position was left unfilled.

    Principal trumpet
