5.8.2026 Afternoon of Fauns, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra’s beloved chamber music series, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. To celebrate the milestone, we are giving away 30 tickets to this autumn's Afternoon of Fauns concert series.

16.6.2026 Kristian Sallinen has been appointed as the next Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra. He will begin his three-year term in August 2027, following the conclusion of British conductor Matthew Halls’s tenure. Sallinen will conduct the orchestra in a minimum of 7–8 programmes each season alongside other projects. He will be the thirteenth Chief Conductor in the Finnish orchestra’s 96-year history.

12.6.2026 At the event, the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra will announce its new Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, who will take up the position in August 2027. Admission is free.

5.6.2026 Chief Conductor Matthew Halls’s final season with the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra will open with an opera-themed outdoor concert featuring tenor Tuomas Katajala as soloist. The traditional Park Concert, co-organised by the Tampere Philharmonic, Tampere Hall and Tampere Energy, will take place in Sorsapuisto Park in Tampere on Saturday, 8 August. Admission is free.

26.5.2026 In the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra’s autumn 2026 season, the many dimensions of the human voice are interwoven with major orchestral works. Vocal music runs as a unifying thread throughout the season, with a strong emphasis on Finnish music. Alongside the orchestra, audiences will hear several choirs and vocal soloists. The 80th anniversary of Tampere Opera brings its own distinctive flavour to the programme, culminating in an Opera Gala in December.

4.5.2026 TPO's autumn 2026 concert programme will be announced on Tuesday, 26 May at 6 pm at the Tampere Hall Small Auditorium. The event will also feature live music, as TPO's small ensembles perform in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Afternoon of Fauns chamber music series.

25.11.2025 TPO's 95th anniversary year reaches its grand finale on Friday, 28 November at 7 pm. Chief Conductor Matthew Halls leads a magical concert where Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade meets Jasdeep Singh Degun’s sitar concerto Arya and Debussy’s sensual Afternoon of a Faun. After the concert, the celebration continue in the Tampere Hall with an afterparty.
