TPO’s popular Park Concert invites to Sorsapuisto on 8 August – visitors encouraged to arrive early
An estimated 10,000 music lovers gathered last year (2025) to enjoy the sound of a live symphony orchestra. This year, the concert coincides with one of Tampere’s busiest summer event weekends, so concert guests are encouraged to arrive at Sorsapuisto well in advance. Walking, cycling or using public transport is strongly recommended. The latest weather forecast for the concert day is available on the Finnish Meteorological Institute’s website.
At this free open-air concert for all ages, the Orchestra will be under the baton of Chief Conductor Matthew Halls, with tenor Tuomas Katajala appearing as soloist. The traditional Park Concert at Sorsapuisto is produced by Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra and Tampere Hall in cooperation with Tampereen Energia.
This year’s Park Concert celebrates the 80th anniversary of Tampereen Ooppera. The programme features beloved music from the worlds of opera, operetta and ballet. The full concert programme has been published and can be found on the Park Concert event page.
