Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra: Portrait of a Charmer

26.1.2024
19.00 - 21.00
Tampere Hall, Yliopistonkatu 55, 33100 Tampere
Tero Ahonen
Matthew Halls, conductor

Richard Strauss: Don Juan
James MacMillan: Sinfonietta
Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No 3 ”Eroica"

James MacMillan's Sinfonietta is the odd one out in the composer's catalogue. Playing without an underlying story, this work of violent contrasts allows the imagination to soar. Don Juan, with all the assets of a large orchestra, tells the tragic story of the world's most famous charmer's conquests and defeats in as much detail as music can. Originally dedicated by Beethoven to Napoleon and later to the memory of 'a great man', the Eroica is praised by music critics the best symphony of all times.

The concert is part of the orchestra's subscriber series, which includes a Pre-concert talk (Teokset tutuiksi) at 6 p.m. and childcare (Lapsiparkki, 10 €) at 6:45 p.m.

The concert has an intermission. The concert ends around 9 p.m.

Tickets: Adults 30 € / pensioners 24 € / students, unemployed and conscripts 15 € / children under 17 years 10 €. You can buy tickets from the Tampere Hall ticket office, Aplodi and the Lippupiste online store (Lippupiste adds service fees and possible shipping fees to ticket prices).
