Kati Tuominen-Heroja
Kati Tuominen-Heroja began her violin studies in Hyvinkää under the guidance of Riitta Ivars. She continued her education at the Lahti Conservatory with Pertti Sutinen and later in the United States, studying in Boston with Ms. Zinaida Gilels and Ms. Laura Bossert. Tuominen-Heroja completed her Artist Diploma in 2003. She was also accepted into the Tanglewood Music Center Fellowship program in 1999 and 2000 through an audition organized by the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Her chamber music teachers have included the Juilliard String Quartet, Emanuel Ax, and Victor Rosenbaum. Tuominen-Heroja has performed both as a soloist and chamber musician in Finland and the United States. She earned her Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy in 2004. Since 2007, she has served as a first violinist with the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra and has been a member of the FINESTre string quartet since 2008.
Kati’s everyday life revolves around her child’s hobbies. On her free time Kati often goes for a swim and is a familiar sight in the stands of Tampere swimming centre cheering on her child in swimming competitions.
