About Tampere Filharmonia

Comprising 97 musicians, the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the three full-width symphony orchestras in Finland, and known as a versatile and dynamic orchestra the local audience loves. The British conductor Matthew Halls began his three-year term as the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra in August 2023. He is the twelfth Chief Conductor of the orchestra, and the third foreign one.

The Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra perfoms in the Tampere Hall, the largest concert and congress centre in the Nordics, with a seating capacity of 1,800. In addition to symphony concerts and the chamber music series, the orchestra also serves annually as an opera and ballet orchestra and performs regularly at the Tampere Biennale contemporary music festival.
