Neo-Romantic composer Kevin McKee has developed Aaron Copland’s ideal of the American sound in his award-winning brass works. Iron Horse, inspired by childhood memories, takes listeners on a journey across the snow-capped landscapes aboard a locomotive. Cascades is a waterfall, a rush, and a mountain range in California. It is also a string quartet by Tampere-based Ilkka Hammo: its fervor overflows with raw energy, restlessness, and eruptions.
The concert is hosted by composer Minna Leinonen. The concert lasts about 2 hours including an intermission.
