Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra: Tampere Biennale 40 Years
17.4.2026
19.00 - 21.00
Tampere-talo Oy, Yliopistonkatu 55, 33100 Tampere
Future classics, bold experiments, and rising talents – the Tampere Biennale’s orchestral concert is a showcase of new music, and will make history with not one but two world premieres.
Ruut Kiiski, conductor
Maria Puusaari, violin
Malla Vivolin, flute
Usko Meriläinen: Suvisoitto
Markku Klami: Violin Concerto: Requiem, world premiere
Sebastian Fagerlund: Stonework
Matilda Seppälä: New work commisioned by TPO, world premiere
Agata Zubel: Fireworks
Usko Meriläinen’s Suvisoitto is a duet for grasshoppers and flute, while Sebastian Fagerlund’s Stonework explores the very essence of stone. Matilda Seppälä’s new work promises a deconstruction spectacle of hyperindividualism, toppling social norms and established hierarchies. Markku Klami’s moving Requiem is more than a violin concerto – it’s a personal work of mourning and a haven of hope; a mass for a life that never began.
