One of Finland’s most promising young conductors, Kristian Sallinen, makes his debut with Tampere Philharmonic’s season series with a program that celebrates the full spectrum of orchestral color. Magnus Lindberg’s Concerto for Orchestra brings every player into the spotlight as a soloist and as part of the ensemble. Camille Saint-Saëns’s First Cello Concerto, a showcase of virtuosity, brims with brilliance and lyrical charm, perfectly matched by the exceptional Senja Rummukainen. Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier secured the composer’s place among opera's greats. The suite, drawn from its most cherished scenes, sweeps listeners into a world of love and longing, wrapped in the elegance of Viennese waltzes.
