Nina Johnson
Assistant principal flute
Nina Johnson was born in Trollhättan, Sweden, and grew up in Linköping. She moved to Finland to study in 1981 and completed her Master of Music degree at the Sibelius Academy under Tapio Jalas. Nina also studied the recorder with Rabbe Forsman.
Her orchestral career began in Kotka, where she served as principal flute from 1983, continuing in the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra from 1985 onward.
Alongside her orchestral work, Nina performs chamber music in various ensembles, and through her recorder playing she has become well acquainted with Baroque music. In her free time, Nina enjoys social dancing, doing handicrafts, and skiing during the winter months.
