Pirjo Tulisalmi
2nd violin
Pirjo Tulisalmi began violin studies at the Tampere Conservatory at the age of five under Eero Bister. She continued at the Sibelius Academy with Erkki Kantola and Erkki Palola, and took part in masterclasses with Valery Klimov, Kaija Saarikettu and others. Pirjo taught violin in Seinäjoki from 1984 to 1986 and has spent the past 35 years teaching in Orivesi and Sastamala. She has been a member of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra since 1986 and is especially drawn to early music and opera.
Pirjo grew up on Ilmarinkatu, just a short distance from Tampere Hall. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, pilates and weaving.
