Jouni Suuronen

Co-principal horn

Jouni Suuronen began his professional studies in French horn playing at the Central Ostrobothnia Conservatory and continued them at the Sibelius Academy with teachers as Esko Seppälä and Timo Ronkainen. He has completed his studies led by Herman Bauman, Michael Höltzell and Barry Tuckwell. Suuronen has played in several Finnish orchestras and is a member of the Pohjalaisen käyrätorviyhtyeen and Tampere New Jazz Collective. He won the third prize in the International Performers Competition in Brno in 1996.

Suuronen has been the co-principal horn of the Tampere Philharmonic since 1998.
